I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but found Fin's journey to enlightenment compelling. He's a flawed human being (aren't we all?) and his thoughts about all aspects of his life bring him to life. He's set his sights on becoming a Sannyasin and heads to India, but it's not as straightforward as he thought. His doubts, human responses to situations (and his mental frustration at them when he's trying to be a better person) and the influence of his past constantly nagging at his efforts to move forwards keep you completely engaged.
I particularly relate to the busy brain he suffers from when trying to meditate!
His enlightenment comes through the people he meets and the realisation that it's not all about him - until it is!
Trying to move on with a life for which he no longer has an appetite, will Finlay manage to prepare to face a death for which he feels unready?
Finlay Carter seemingly had it all, a successful job as a surgeon, a beautiful wife and loving children: his life was everything most could hope for. But, as his own personal struggles lead him into trouble, and a catastrophic family secret comes to light, everything he thought he knew about his life is thrown up in the air and things start to fall apart.
Losing touch with his faith, questioning himself and his choices, but searching for enlightenment, Finlay starts his quest to become a Sannyasin.
