Review date: 17th May 2022

I have just finished a wonderful book for 3 to 8 year olds.

It's about a Goose (Gertie) who believes she knows everything. She quickly learns, however, that being stubborn gets her into trouble. She must use her initiative to get herself out of difficulty.

I think this bedtime story that everyone can enjoy has powerful lessons for children to learn about the wisdom of elders.

I love the wonderful hand drawn images on every page and I especially like the short quiz at the end and the images for children to colour in.

A thoroughly enjoyable book that both parents and children will love.

I give it a very well deserved 5 stars.

Very much enjoyed this story. A lovely pace and rhythm to the read and great use of the English language. A treat of a read, I’m looking forward to the follow up!

The first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful front cover, which immediately made we want to see more. The illustrations are simple but effective and match the story, which is captivating, perfectly. It reminded me of a business book I read many years ago with a very similar message. This book is perfect for kids. It’s beautifully written and engaging with a quiz and colouring page in at the back.

Description

*All of the authors royalties will go to the Red Cross Ukraine appeal.

Gertie is a prime example of a goose who thinks she knows best but soon realises the consequences of her actions. However, by this point, it is too late and she has to use her initiative to get herself out of a sticky situation.
For ages 3-8 years old. This sweet, entertaining story with beautiful hand drawn illustrations, helps to reinforce the idea that children’s parents or guardians often know what is best for them, and when asking their children to do something, it’s usually for good reason!
This book helps promote the idea of the wisdom of elders, whilst growing independence and confidence in one’s own abilities, in a bedtime story that everyone can enjoy.
