I absolutely loved ‘Dipity’, Olivea Parker’s second book about Loch Lomond Farm and we are introduced to a new foal. It can be read as a standalone, or read book one after this. If you haven’t already read it. This book will appeal to children who love horses and farm animals along with a story that trots along nicely. From the very first page, I was drawn into the story. There’s something charming about her writing. The characters are real, flawed, funny, and full of heart. The illustrations are extremely well done. It’s one of those books that sounds great read out loud, with lots of voices and dialogue to have fun with.
I’ll definitely be recommending Dipity to friends and buying for some for the children in my family. I hope there are more adventures to read about soon!
What a fantastic book to follow 'Hamish’s Heyday'. Olivia has a lovely knack of guiding little ones to easily follow a story, and encourages curiosity for those ever-hungry minds. This story, again, is just the right length to keep them absorbed in its wonder, challenges and rewards. It’s full of excitement and trepidation, with a happy result in the end. Just like a kid and with a love for drawing, I always veer towards a book’s images first, and again I’m not disappointed. They are beautiful and align perfectly with the story to give a flavour of Dipity’s life and surroundings. They certainly made me want to visit the area and trot along Finlay’s Bay.
