I found Bloom a very interesting book. It sympathetically covers many aspects of life relevant to everyone. As a keen gardener myself I also enjoyed the descriptive passages relating to the various growing seasons throughout the year.
I look forward to the next book by Hayley Lockhart
The perfect book for any time of year - buy it for your loved ones this Christmas - loved it :)
I loved this book! Beautifully written with some twists and turn. The characters were so engaging and I enjoyed the intriguing romance thread through it. Great setting in a village involving the life of the characters with a gardening theme. However, if you don’t like gardening don’t let that put you off as it will still be so enjoyable to read. I can’t wait for the author’s next book!
I loved this book. It is Well written with lots of twists and turns. I laughed, I cried , I couldn’t put it down. If you love gardening and a love story then you are in for a treat. Will make a great Christmas present.
A lovely read. Well described characters and places with a worthy theme of gardening to aid wellbeing.
Fantastically written, Hayley is able to paint beautiful images in your head with her descriptions and captures a wonderful story line! A must read!
The characters draw you in and immerse you in their world of gardening and village life. I enjoyed this author’s first novel and will be looking forward to her next one.
As I began to read this delightful, first novel, I was a little perturbed by the proliferation of adjectives. As I read on, I realised that I was unconsciously slowing my reading pace and relaxing. Is this an intended technique of the author to enhance the immersion into village life? Lydia's cottage and garden are idyllic. I want to sit there myself, with a cup of chamomile tea and allow my senses free rein with the delicious scents and colours. There is a gentleness to the characters and each conversation has been weighed carefully to give life to the depth to the relationships. Having seen the beneficial effects that gardening had on emotionally disturbed children, in my own career, I revelled in Hayley Lockart's adolescents' experiences. She has beautifully portrayed the impact that gardens have on one's spirit and wellbeing. A rich portrayal of village life and the joy of gardens.
A warm, character-driven love story about change, friendship, healing and rediscovering life’s purpose.
Bloom by Hayley Lockhart is a deeply engaging contemporary romance novel and women’s fiction book perfect for readers who enjoy uplifting stories about personal growth, small-town life, and emotional healing. At the heart of the narrative is Lydia Cole — a woman who treasures her quiet, ordinary life in the countryside, tending her garden, nurturing friendships and savouring peace in her chocolate-box cottage. But when life’s calm begins to shift, Lydia is forced to confront challenges she never expected.
When Lydia’s best friend Imogen faces marital difficulties, the future of the local nursery where she works is under threat, and a new neighbour arrives with his own burdens, Lydia finds herself drawn into situations she’d once avoided. As connections deepen, old comforts are questioned, and new possibilities begin to blossom in ways that could change everything. Over the course of a transformative twelve months, relationships are tested, hearts are opened, and lives are altered forever.
