Emma is a psychotherapist who specialises in working with children and young people. She has written, and taught, accredited courses for counselling under 18s, and is Head of Psychological Services for a children and young person’s specialist counselling provision. In the year prior to publication, Emma started her first term as an elected trustee to the board of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Motivation for writing the Magical Maisie collection came from Emma’s drive to provide child-friendly resources which help young clients feel emotionally safe and loved. The series is designed for children to read together with an adult – parent/carer, teacher or therapist – to explore difficult life events and challenges. The Magical Maisie collection starts. with a book about bereavement. This is especially poignant as it was written following the death of Emma’s beloved grandfather.
Each book comes with an accompanying workbook to enhance the therapeutic benefit and enable healing communication between adult and child about these important issues.
