For those of you who have not met us before we came together more than 30 years ago when we were being young and energetic around the North London folk scene.
Ever since then we have been bringing our brand of ceilidhs and barn dances to discerning audiences near and far and enjoying almost every moment of it.
As professional musicians we have been able to explore all sorts of different avenues and the versatility of the band has been a major feature of its success, whether Jewish/Scottish weddings in Glasgow, Scandinavian music at Wembley & well-known furniture stores, Burns Nights, Hoedowns or lively English Barn Dances.
This latest venture was by nature of a challenge from Mike who was writing a book on Maypole Dancing (as you do) and needed some new lively music
to go with it. It was not just the different rhythms and speeds he was after but the variety he had previously achieved by using music from half a dozen different bands. The process of putting it all together was a lot of fun for all of us and both the book (The Maypole Manual) and CD have met with great approval since their launch in 2014, with a major update in 2022. In 2022 we added a downloadable album.
This is the band’s own version of the original work and re-worked primarily for listening and enjoying rather than for teaching. But then, it was seen as ideal to support another book by Mike – his Quick & Simple Barndance Book.
The album is available for download. You can also purchase and download individual tracks.
