Allcock & Brown First achieved fame and fortune (or pie in the sky?!) with their renditions
of some of the best known ditties from the Victorian and Edwardian Music Hall and our
First souvenir CD reflected that. Now with our first full length album many of these are
still there but there are songs reflecting some of the different events at which
we have appeared.
The album is available for download. You can also purchase and download individual tracks.
There’s a Sea Shanty, Roll the Old Chariot Along, from when we performed on HMS Warrior, there’s a Parlour Song, Linden Lea and some of the more reflective ballads of the time which we included for our rst parlour concert at the Manor Farm Musical Frivolities. Drawing on the background of our alter egos in the English and Irish Folk Scene and our recent appearances at Folk Clubs we have included Nutting Girl and Mountains of Mourne. Finally to complete the picture there is an example of dramatic digital dexterity from the Professor with a bit of ragtime on the concertina.
It's all been kept simple to reflect a typical Allcock & Brown event. The only real difference is that then there would be an audience and they would, more than likely, be joining in. Then again there is nothing stopping you (apart from the neighbours) when you listen to this. Turn up the volume and have yourself a singsong.
Andy Dewar played percussion, twiddled all the knobs and worked digital wonders in the studio.
Not many people were involved in this project and no animals were harmed. However we would like to thank the following people:
Andy Dewar & The Hut Studios / Marcus at db Masters / Robert Greshoff for photos and design Chris would like to thank: Steve at Wheatstone Concertinas
