Launching a new imprint: “Unheard Voices” at the Herts Book Festival

At this year’s Herts Book Festival, St Alban’s based publisher “The Endless Bookcase” will be launching a brand new imprint: “Unheard Voices.”

An Arts Council funded initiative, “Unheard Voices” will provide a means by which homeless authors or authors with lived experience of homelessness can be supported to have their work, be it fiction poetry or creative non-fiction, published and marketed.

The homeless voice is an under-represented one in mainstream literature, but this new imprint will give homeless people an opportunity to put that right.

At the launch, Dr Neil Deuchar, former psychiatrist, Endless Bookcase author and current series editor for the new imprint, will give a short introduction. Then Jason Electricity, who lives under Waterloo Bridge in London, and who is the new imprint’s series advisor, will read poems from his first collection, “Where Urban Lights Reflect Hope”, which is the very first publication of “Unheard Voices”. Jason will then be signing copies of his book which will be on sale at the stand. Meanwhile, ex-chef and ice hockey player Tom Adams, who was homeless in Somerset for six years, will be writing instant personalised poems for launch attendees and other festival-goers on the day.

The launch will take place at the Endless Bookcase stand on the lawn at 10am on Saturday 18th May at Hertford Castle, Hertford the site of first day of the two-day festival … The festival hours are 9am – 3pm both days. The second day is at Southern Maltings, Ware on Sunday 19th May.
