This is the second of Katie Gray's books in the 'Dead' series that I have read.
I found it an absorbing tale of sleuthing in the Suffolk countryside. It features husband and wife private investigators Jack and Pippsy (their firm is wonderfully named Four Eyes Everywhere). The story is told by Pippsy, in a friendly, almost chatty style, the action taking place in the Suffolk retirement community where Pippsy's mother lives. Despite the cosy atmosphere, the plot unfolds with mystery, murder and dark secrets from the past, leading to an action-packed climax and a surprise twist as the story ends. A compelling read, with (refreshingly) not too much darkness and no sex!
This is the fourth book in The Dead Series.
A quiet retirement community.
Suspicious neighbours.
And a mystery that refuses to stay buried.
When private investigators Pippsy and Jack Standage visit Pippsy’s mother in the peaceful Suffolk countryside, they expect nothing more than a relaxing break. Instead, they are drawn into a puzzling case involving strange happenings among the residents next door.
What begins as a simple favour quickly becomes something far more sinister.
As the couple dig deeper into the mystery, they uncover hidden secrets, suspicious behaviour, and clues that suggest someone in the seemingly tranquil community has something dangerous to hide. With each discovery, Pippsy and Jack find themselves pulled further into a web of deception, where nothing is quite as it appears.
Can they uncover the truth before the mystery turns deadly?
